Cybersecurity Information

At C.O.G.S. Inc., we have a duty of care to protect our shareholders' profits as much as possible. Malicious actors, such as Toons and <DATA EXPUNGED>, are always trying to find ways to infiltrate our systems for their malicious purposes, including but not limited to stealing data, disrupting vital operations, and in general plotting against the missions of C.O.G.S., Inc..

Our IT Infrastructure Team work round-the-clock to monitor for intrusion and continually upgrade all systems to the latest iteration to protect ourselves against evermore sophisticated attacks. However, systems are only as secure as their weakest link, and many years of research shows that the weakest link is YOU - The user.

Your C.O.G.S. Inc. account contains a lot of useful information that are meant to be private, such as your disciplinary records, employment history, and application archives. You are responsible for taking necessary steps to secure your account. Failure to do so may constitute a breach of the standard Cog Employment Contract section 1(3).37 or your Manager Employment Contract Sec 4(a).0.3 and cases will be referred to the Suit Misconduct Committee for further evaluation and infraction, ranging from oil pipe cleaning duty to immediate dismissal.

Nevertheless, we try to make it as easy as possible to secure your account, so there is nothing to worry about if you follow our guidelines here.

Tips on how to secure your account:

  • Use a strong password. Your password must be between 8 and 25 characters long. We are working to support passwords longer than 25 characters. The following symbols are allowed in the password: ()!-_/=@\[]
  • Don't use weak passwords. We regularly scan our employee login credentials and prompt Suits with weak passwords to change their passwords at the earliest opportunity. Previous examples include:
    • 12345678
    • password
    • PaSsWoRd
    • password1
    • password2
    • password3
    • aaaaaaaa
    • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
    • zzzzzzzz
    • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
    • wasdwasd
    • cogsinc!
    • headhunter1
    • ilovechairman (said employee was summoned to The Chairman's office and promptly fired on the spot.)
  • Ensure you change your password every so often, preferably after you receive a major upgrade to your suit components.
  • Never write down your password anywhere, such as on a piece of paper.
  • Never write down your username anywhere, especially other people's usernames. Your built-in storage should have plenty of space to securely store this information.
  • IT Support Suits will never ask for your password. If you are asked to provide your password, refuse and report the incident to IT Support immediately.

We understand accidents happen. If you become aware that your account has been breached, please reach out to IT Support as soon as you become aware of said breach, at 011 899 988 1999 119 ext 725-3. (You may alternatively email it-support@cogs.ink.)

If you have any questions regarding the above policy and/or tips and tricks, please reach out to your line manager who will be able to point you to the nearest IT Deployment Support Office for your area.
